Box Breathing
Calm The Body. Quiet The Mind.
A simple breathing practice to help you slow down, steady your body, and return to the present moment when stress or anxiety begins to rise.
When we feel stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious, our breathing often becomes shallow and rapid without us even noticing.

Why It Works
When we feel stressed, our breathing can become shallow and rapid. Box Breathing gently interrupts that stress response by giving the body a steady rhythm to follow.
By slowing the inhale, hold, exhale, and pause, you send a calming signal to your nervous system and create space for your body and mind to settle.
This practice can help:
🌿 Calm the nervous system
🌿 Reduce feelings of stress and anxiety
🌿 Slow racing thoughts
🌿 Improve focus and mental clarity
🌿 Restore a sense of balance and emotional regulation

The Practice

Breathe In
Slowly inhale through your nose
For 4 Counts
1 • 2 • 3 • 4

Hold
Gently hold your breath
For 4 Counts
1 • 2 • 3 • 4

Breathe Out
Slowly exhale through your mouth
For 4 Counts
1 • 2 • 3 • 4

Pause
Rest before your next breath
For 4 Counts
1 • 2 • 3 • 4

Continue this gentle rhythm for 4–6 rounds, or for 2–5 minutes if you have more time.
Imagine tracing the four sides of a square with each breath, allowing every side to be slow, steady, and equal.
